Acid fruit is a dietary categorization that includes
culinary fruits and
culinary vegetables with a significant acidic / tart / sour taste.
The dietary classification of acid fruit is completely unrelated to any effect it may have on the body's blood pH.
Acid fruit has higher water content than
sub-acid fruit and much higher water content than
sweet fruit.
Note that eating acid fruit does not make your blood acidic, on the contrary, after digesting acid fruit, the minerals that are absorbed into the bloodstream are alkalizing to the blood and actual help prevent acidicity. The body also has built-in mechanisms to help it tightly regulate blood pH.
Examples of acid fruit include:
- 🍋 Lemon
- 🍊 Orange
- Grapefruit
- Lime
- Pineapple
- Kiwi
- Strawberries
- Sour berries
