A culinary seed is a seed or seed-like plant part that is used as a food ingredient, seasoning, or spice because of its flavor, aroma, or nutritional value.
Examples: Cumin, coriander, mustard, sesame, fennel, and black pepper.
Note: Some culinary “seeds,” such as black pepper, are botanically fruits rather than true seeds.
