A multiple fruit develops from many individual flowers, usually packed together in an inflorescence.
Think:
MANY flowers → MANY ovaries → ONE fruiting structure
A pineapple is the classic example. Each of the little polygonal sections corresponds to an individual flower/fruit, and the whole structure develops into one pineapple.
Examples of multiple fruits are pineapple, mulberry, fig and breadfruit.
